Trovo me e Mia molto simili.

Hi Piera, thank you for giving me the opportunity to interview you. For those who don’t know you, would you like to present yourself and tell us how you began your acting career?

Hey! Thanks for having me! I’m an Australian actor, writer, and producer who also runs a YouTube channel that focusses on book reviews, author interviews and, like Nevernight, book to film adaptations! I started acting professionally about 8 years ago before moving into writing/producing in the last 3 or 4 years. In that time, I’ve been on a couple TV shows, in movies and created lots of my own work.

One of your latest works is the Nevernight webseries. Why did you decide to make a short series about these books in particular and what was the most difficult part of this project?

Nevernight is one of my favourite books and as a filmmaker and reader, my career trajectory has me heading towards book to film adaptations of fantasy novels. I wanted to bring Mia and her world to life for fans of the series, and also to prove that there is a market for high fantasy, as we’ve seen recently with the success of The Witcher. The most difficult part was definitely trying to do high fantasy on a low budget, thanks to Screen Australia, Youtube and Google, we were given a grant to create the 3 episodes so we had to work smart in order to make the money stretch and create a great show.

In the Nevernight webseries you play the role of Mia Corvere. Was it difficult to play her or was it a natural role?

I find Mia and myself very similar. We are both bisexual women, both have a foul mouth and are sarcastic, snarky and quick to anger. For the most part it all came pretty naturally, but remembering that in the 3 episodes, we only see Mia at the beginning of her journey, so she still has a lot of growing to do.

Asking you about what you love about Mia seems a little too easy, so I’m going to ask you what you don’t like about her.

I find it pretty hard to pick things about her that I don’t like, because half the reason I do is because I find her relatable. If I had to pick, I would say that it would be that she lets her need for revenge cloud her vision at times.

My girlfriend and I watched the webseries together and we loved it, but now we absolutely need to have more of it. Are there any plans to make other episodes?

Thank you! I’m glad to hear! No plans for more web series but we are working to adapt it into a broadcast TV series!

Are you satisfied with how the webseries turned out and the reception it had?

I am! Obviously YouTube isn’t the ideal platform for fantasy but we worked with what we had available. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive so that’s all we could have hoped for!

If you could change one thing about it, what would it be?

I would have loved more money and more time!

Do you have any projects in the works or ideas you would like to talk about?

Aside from working on more Nevernight, I’ve got an original short film coming out at the end of the year based on a young cyborg woman who has to fight her way through the mech-rings in order to achieve glory.

Thanks for having me!
